The Commercial Tax Officer Training Institute
was established as a pioneer Institute in the area of Indirect Tax and allied areas.
The institute had been working under the Uttar Pradesh Administrative Academy, Nainital until it was shifted to Lucknow in December 1980.
Since then institution has been running to bestow systematized and time to time training to the officers / staff of the
Commercial Tax Department.
The Institute has been
conceived with the ambitious objectives of developing professional
expertise and skilled manpower in Taxation and related areas.
This will enable the department to exploit efficiently emerging market
from the view of Taxation, and meet challenges being thrown up by the rapid
unification of the market, which is influencing virtually every area of development
and social activity. As an apex nucleating institute in the area of Taxation,
the establishment of the Institute is a major step of Govt. of UP towards exploiting
multi-dimensional facets of Indirect Taxation at all levels, and attaining expertise
to enable the department to emerge as a major revenue earner of the State.

We foster a perfect blend of wisdom,
compassion and practical experience in our trainees. Our faculty members by their ineffable intelligence
inculcate a sense of leadership and honesty in our trainees and also to center their lives around such
timeless principles as fairness, equity, justice and integrity that constitute the roots of every prosperous
institution/State/Nation. We apprehend and acknowledge the potential of our trainees and demonstrate how learning
and principle centered approach can empower relationship at home and at work. We enhance the intrinsic abilities of
our trainees to provide them high quality education, training and expertise. We cherish "can do spirit" in them, a
culture of working in integrity, help developing quality that teaches and trains in value based leadership. We teach
classical wisdom, Indian values, qualities of management, law and ethics, effective and responsible administration.

We encourage our trainees to adhere to their self- defined tenets and to develop ability to make the best out of one's
circumstances. It's a quality essential for survival. The institute celebrates freedom of thought, cultivates vision and
encourages growth; but also inculcates human values and concern for the society. The rich cultural diversity of India is
reflected in the campus activities.
The principal objective of our training and development division is to make sure the availability of a
skilled and willing workforce to an organization. In addition to that, there are four other objectives:
Individual, Organizational, Functional, and Societal.
Individual Objectives - help employees in achieving their personal goals, which in turn, enhances the
individual contribution to an organization.
Organizational Objectives - assist the organization with its primary objective by bringing individual effectiveness.
Functional Objectives - maintain the department's contribution at a level suitable to the organization's needs.
Societal Objectives - ensure that an organization is ethically and socially responsible to the needs and challenges of the society.
